What is “psychotherapy”?
This approach is based on psychological methods, is a talking therapy and helps clients to overcome their problems in desired ways, through regular personal interaction. This often involves meeting on a regular basis, either weekly, fortnightly or monthly depending on the clients’ wishes.
Painful emotions and experiences can be explored and resolved using this approach. This may include anxiety, depression, loss or lack of direction in one’s life.
Psychotherapy also looks at the beliefs we have about ourselves and the world around us.
Our beliefs very much influence the way we see the world around us, with our eyes being more than just the receiver, but often also playing the role of projector. We see what we expect to see, thus confirming what we thought, believed or felt in the first place.
Often our beliefs, thoughts and feelings are simply habitual, outdated or not our own and therefore we are not fulfilling our potential, feel frustrated or helpless.
Psychotherapy helps to explore all of these issues, allowing us to live more authentically and this will often lead to a more fulfilled and happy life.
